The Mekong Organization for Mankind (MOM) was formed in 2003, by the
philanthropic group of prominent academic, former high ranking officers,
prominent business people in this region, diplomats and people in other related
sectors, to carry out the landmine actions in remote areas and implementing the
long-term, sustainable and appropriate developments in this Greater Mekong
Sub-region (GMS) that comprises of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand,
Vietnam, and the Yunnan province of China. MOM is now working in Thailand, as it
bases here, mainly in supporting humanitarian mine actions to Thailand Mine
Action Center (TMAC), and also in supporting education and health care to
under-privileged people in border areas. MOM will continue to introduce
appropriate developments after landmine clearance, and to work in other GMS
countries as it gains more experiences and financial support.
