MOM in Landmine Clearance Activites at Border Areas of Thailand

In May 2007, The Mekong Organization for Mankind (MOM) was chosen by the Thailand Mine Action Center (TMAC) and the ASEAN Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to be the executor of the “Integrated Area Reduction Survey Project: IARS at Cambodia Border”, and was nominated to receive operational budget from the “Japan-ASEAN Integrated Fund: JAIF”; the fund that needs approval from other three ASEAN countries-Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam-effected by landmines, and the approval of Japan.

November 2007, the official approval by those three ASEAN countries and Japan has been made to the IARS project, and such could allow ASEAN Secretary General to release IARS operational budget to MOM in the beginning of December 2007, and so MOM could start the implementation of IARS project.
